Meet the Dames of Many Names

Josette.JPG

Josette D’Ambrosi

Josette is an actress, television and live event host, singer, dancer, and choreographer. Known as “the tap dance girl,” she grew up as a competitive dancer, eventually adding the rest to her resume.

Josette’s career has taken her to iconic venues, like Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall, and iconic events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, President Obama’s 2nd inauguration, and New Year’s Eve in Times Square.

She has also spent many years teaching dance to children ages 4-16 in New York City and choreographed a number of youth musical productions.

Josette has been a host/producer for Buzz60.com, a performer for the USO, has sung back up for the one and only Darlene Love, has belted out the national anthem more times than most and is one of the regular hosts and voices for New York Road Runners. She has appeared in many other stage, screen and multimedia projects.

A native New Yorker, Josette still lives in her home borough of Brooklyn and enjoys traveling, good food, and everything the city has to offer!

Josette cannot believe (in the best way possible) that she is still singing with the Downtown Dames. It has been such a journey, filled with unique experiences and has given her the opportunity to meet and impact so many people with music.  The reverse is true as well!

Nicole Spano

Nicole is a New York City-based actor, singer and beauty expert, and loves singing with the Downtown Dames Her enthusiasm for the arts was evident from the start, as she burst onto the scene with a rousing rendition of the Sinatra classic “New York, New York” at the age of three, to rave reviews in her parents’ Hoboken, NJ living room. That early taste of performing spurred her passion for creative endeavors, whether it’s cabaret performances onstage at Don’t Tell Mama and The Duplex, sending thousands of runners off with a song to start their 26.2 mile journey at the New York City Marathon, or behind the scenes painting faces as a makeup artist.

Some of Nicole’s favorite performance highlights include “The Star-Spangled Banner” on ABC to kick off the New York City Veteran’s Day Parade, ringing in the new year with duets alongside Danny Aiello and working on new music with Phil Springer, composer of the hit song “Santa Baby.”

When she’s not performing or creating, she can be found trying out every reputable pizza spot in her immediate vicinity on the quest for the perfect slice.
